“ Omg! First off I need to say that I'm hard to please. I have high expectations so this was a real treat. a real HOME COOKED MEAL. they cooked our bacon perfect to our request. The hash browns, shredded and home style were made fresh. The biscuits were homemade and hot to the table. The butter was served in abundance and not refrigerated so it melted nicely. The table had lots of condiments to choose from. I have noise sensitivity and often wear earplugs but found the cafeteria style busy and still not too loud like most. The Service was Top Notch and timely! The restaurant is clean with great windows to bring the light in. I would definitely recommend this place. ”

“ Al’s Diner is a hidden gem in Ferndale (speaking as a Canadian)! The menu is very affordable — easily rivals Denny’s (even the value menu) but the quality is far better. Their grilled cheese, made with Tillamook cheese, is perfectly gooey and melts in your mouth. The in-house coleslaw tastes fresh and minimally processed, though it could use a bit more sauce. The service is basic — they didn’t really check in much — but everyone was polite, and this place focuses on good, honest diner food over fancy extras. The environment is simple with little signage when you walk in, but the food and prices make it totally worth it. Menus are at the tables, and prices differ from what’s online on the chalkboard (see attached photos for the updated pricing menu). Excellent comfort food, great value, and a classic small-town feel. ”

“ The place was packed, ans our server did a commendable job of taking care of us. This is a LOCAL hangout. When we walked in the door, the conversation abruptly stopped and every eye in the place looked at us. It was like a scene from a movie. The food was average. The French Toast was excellent, so was the bacon. The omelette was severely overcooked and made with only two eggs. This surprised me, as I've never seen a two-egg-omelette; usually they are made with 3 eggs. The hash browns were decent. The biscuits and gravy were passable. ”

“ I've been going to Al's diner for the past 4 years with my Dad. I come up from Skagit to see my Dad at least once a week and we always go to Al's either for breakfast or lunch. The staff are the friendliest and the food is amazing every single time. My Dad's favorite is the pastrami sandwich. I love all their breakfast entries. Thank you for servicing Ferndale with excellent food and service. ”

“ I was just passing through and came across this little gem. Let me start by saying the service here was excellent. Every server was very kind and quick to ask if we needed anything more. The biscuits and gravy were really good and full filing (obviously, lol) The pancakes are really big, we were going to get 2 large pancakes but then decided for one because our son wasn't that hungry and the server asked for us to go with the 8 inch which in my mind was still big. A great find for breakfast. ”

“ Perfect, no frills diner. Great food, quick service. This place is great. We had chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy and both were absolutely delicious. My over medium eggs were a perfect over medium. I hope I’m in the area again just so I can stop by Al’s. ”
